Do Pinto Camshaft Timing Gears wear out?

Do Pinto belt driven camshaft timing gears wear out. I need both a crankshaft gear and a camshaft gear and I need to know if the actual gears wear out. They have some surface rust on them. I will be buying a new belt to go with them.

i guess they could, but only if you ran it in the sand a lot
