I'm 14 and I haven't gained any reputation as anything else but smart. I crave succeeding socially, without being the stereotypical teen. I don't want to seem desperate, but I desperately need someone to talk to–guy or girl.

What would you consider social success? Have you tried joining any clubs in your school like for chess or some other "brainy" subject? Even if you enjoy a sport like volleyball or something, that could help if you became part of the team. Feeling that you are a part of a group really helps with social interactions.

Honestly, I'm not sure I understand what you're after. Being smart obviously isn't the only important thing in your life, but social success isn't, either. I don't think I can help until I know what your initial sentence means, the one about your imagination (which is, by the way, the funnest thing to keep over the years).

My teen years were rough in a similar way, and it didn't change for me to my family moved, and i met some great people. I know that's not a realistic option for you tho. Looking back, i wish i hadn't taken the clique-thing so seriously. Stand up for yourself, do what makes you proud of yourself. That'll either attract the friends you want, or make sure tha when you leave, your the person you want to be. Look forward to college.
