Gil Meche

Gil Meche only had one above average year, and KC gave him a $55 Million deal. Carl Pavano didn't even pitch last year for the Yankees. I would give the edge to Pavano because he is a more proven pitcher.

GO CUBS!!!!

Gil Meche.

Are the Yankees really going to let Pavano pitch opening day??

Carl Pavano is a perfectly respectable opening day starter against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The Royals are a team in the dark, of their pitchers it's completely appropriate for Meche to start opening day. Essetially this question is about two opening days that don't really matter.

wow! neither, they are both a train wreck! thank GOD the cubbies didnt end up with that bottom feeder gil meche! if those are the ONLY choices, i would have to say pavano. not because hes worth a crap as a pitcher anymore, but because hes pitching in front of a lineup that can score 8 runs to overcome the 6 or 7 he will give up. meche is pitching in front of a team that may score 8 runs in a weeks worth of games!

Pavano isn't a bum, he's just made of glass. Don't worry if he'll pich well, worry about the possiblity that he may be on the DL before opening day. If he does pitch, I think he can hold his own against the Devil Rays. Meche is will be fine once he hits his groove, but opening day is 50/50.

Both pitchers suck, but, due to injuries, the Yankees seem to have no other choice but to pitch Pavano on Opening Day.
