This question is specific to your devices' manufacturer- almost all of them have a phone number for service on the motor housing (the box hanging from the ceiling with the light in it). I would call the manufacturer for help.

If you can't find the number, your local overhead door company may be able to help you over the phone... if they aren't willing to help, put a red mark next to them in the phone book.

In the interim, there is a disconnect- there will be a string hanging down, usually with a red handle on it, from the track near the metal arm that connects the top of your garage door to the track of the opener. Pull this down and the garage door motor will still cycle, but it won't open the door. You can still open the door the old fashioned way until you reset the system.

Best of luck and a pox on the nimrod that stole your car.

i think there is a place inside the opener(on one end as i recall) , maybe a little plate to remove. it will have about 5 little toggles that you can change. you can also buy a new remote at hardware store and change the code..
