Well if you know you are eating well and are not sick. Then don't worry about it. Periods at first are not regular. I have a teenage daughter who will be 18. She had hers around 11 into 12 like I did. She would never get cramps now that she's going on 18 she is. It's different for everyone. Your about to be 16. I believe for your age you can tell if your sick or not. So if you feel well don't worry. I want to wish you happy birthday. May you have many more.

Well are you anorexic? Anorexics are famous for not being honest with themselves and thinking their parents and friends are overreacting.

If not though, it's not uncommon to have a few months in between periods when you first start. Eat a healthy diet, get plenty of sleep. How long since you just had a doctor check up? That might be a good idea.

If you weigh less than 100 pounds, your mother might not be exaggerating, just a tip.

I got my first period when I was nine. For half a year I had it on a regular basis, then it stopped for almost 9 months! A doctor told my mom and me that this is absolutely normal. If however it stops for too long, check with your doc, there are medications that make it come back on a regular basis. Btw: meanwhile I'm 54 yrs old...

I would see if there is a Family Planning Council inyour area and call and ask them your questions.

I don't think it sounds like a "normal" period and perhaps warrents having a Pelvic Exam done.

Perhaps you have a School Councelor or another relative you can confide in.

hope it helped

I was like that too when I first started my period. My dr. put me on birth control pills to keep me regulated (and being on bc pills for this doesn't mean you're sexually active). After you get a little older and if your periods don't become more regular on their own...you should have your dr. check you for PCOS...polycystic ovarian syndrome. PCOS isn't life threatening...it's just a condition found in some women...he can put you on meds for that too.

When you're that age you tend to pump out hormones in spurts. You may get enough one month, and not much the next. It takes a while before you're putting out full hormone production all the time.

mine was the same way. i was told that if you play a lot of sports or youre just really active sometimes you will have wierd periods. mine was irregular for years. its finally regular now. if i were you i wouldnt worry about it right now. youre probably fine, but if it gets bad i would go to a clinic or something. your mom doesnt have to know about it (hippa privacy acts. yay!)

personally I'd tell your mom... or talk to a health deptartment on the phone and explain .. or a hotline.. something before telling you mom so that you have the evidenence the you don't have to be anorexic to have goop...
