1. Pitching:
Carpenter and Zambrano is close to a push, but I give the nod to Carpenter.
Adam Wainwright has really impressed me, he probably won't be in the #2 spot of the rotation but I think at the end he will have the next best season after the two aces. Ted Lilly is a decent #3 guy, but he has to be the #2 guy for the Cubs.
Anthony Reyes and Rich Hill both have a good upside. I give this a push.
Kip Wells and Jason Marquis aren't special. Both have talent, but haven't lived up to it. If Wells is healthy I give him the nod due to the fact Marquis is a head case. If he couldn't put it together under Mazzone or Duncan, he isn't going to do it with Rothschild.
Looper and Miller are set as the #5 guys right now. Miller was good 5 years ago, but he isn't the same. Looper has never started. I give the edge to a healthy Wade Miller.
Advantage = Cardinals
2. Defense:
Floyd, Soriano, and Jones = trouble for the Cubbies. Floyd can't run, Soriano is an work in progress, and Jones has a terrible arm for RF. Chris Duncan is brutal in the OF also, but Edmonds is one of the best of all-time, even though he has lost a step. Encarnacion is average.
Rolen and Pujols are Gold glovers and Eckstien and Kennedy are reliable. Izturis and Lee are Gold Glovers while Ramirez isn't the iron glove he used to be is isn't top notch.
Molina is amazing while Barrett is average at best.
Advantage = Cardinals
3. Hitting:
Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez is a nice heart of the order. They can go toe to toe with any three in any lineup. Barrett is one of the better hitting catchers. Floyd and Jones should fill their roles well. Pujols is the best hitter on the planet, so he has a chance to win a game by himself. Edmonds and Rolen are still all-stars and but aren't the MVP hitters they were a few years ago. Duncan is a wild card. He hit 20 HR in limited action last year. Was that a fluke or is he a legit 40 HR guy? Nobody else is special.
Advantage = Cubs
Overall Advantage = Cardinals

The Cubs are pretty good at beating the Cardinals, but overall the Cards just have more a more stable team. It might take a couple months for the Cubs to hit their stride.

hands down Chicago there communities have not won something by using fact the bears won the Superbowl in 80 5 and Jordan and the group owned the NBA worldwide. And after that the Chicago communities have been right now ***. the blues had a playoff streak for like 18 years st. Louis has the two made it to the worldwide sequence or the NLCS and the rams have a great bowl win and went to a distinctive one and have been branch champs 3 out of the final 6 years. so the Chicago communities have been *** for a protracted time and st. Louis has been a minimum of a aggressive group.

Even with an off year like last year the Cards were able to win it all. The Cubs, well, they are just sad.
Better Team.
Better Fans
Better Stadium (Wrigley is a dump)
Only thing better is the actual city of Chicago.
St. Louis in a landslide.

St. Louis has been the class of the division, but this year the Cubs will be better. They have a potent offensive lineup, the outfield defense will not be as bad as people think and if they can get 13-15 wins out of Lilly and Marquis who knows!

Going into the season I'd say the Cards have the advantage because they know what it took to win. However, I think the Cubs are the better team. If they can overcome any doubts they may have they should win the division.

The St. Louis Cardinals are obviously better, i mean look at the number of world series won by each team. oh an by the way there's a little someone named Albert Pujols who could beat the cubs by himself
GO CARDS!

I hate to admit it, but the Cards are overall the better team. But in the last couple of years, the Cubs have had their number. GO CUBS!

This is an interesting question do you mean this year or overall,my answer will not change, it of coarse is The Birds on the Bat.
10 World championships,18 NL Pennants,the Cardinals have been the Class of the NL and especially the NL Central.The Baby Bears will try to challenge the Cards for the Central flag but will fall short again,But the good news is theres always next year.yea they been saying that for 100 years.
