he is turning 22 we have been friend for 10 years i want a great gift that will make him think "wow you tried" and maybe he could cry a li lbit that too would be great any ideas?

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

Have you tried Lush.com. It's a neat place (there are some stores in very large cities) and they carry some really awesome bathing products, massage bars and other cool stuff. Now, not for just those of same-sex orientation, but lots of people love it. It is all natural and handmade. They have some nice gift sets for occasions.
Downside, ordering takes quite a while to get in and certain things you take a chance on if you are in a warmer climate. I only order during the winter months.

What are some things that the two of you enjoy doing? Does he enjoy going to the movies, plays, concerts? Are you on a budget? Perhaps you could try and get him tickets for a fabulous concert and then reservations to a really nice restaurant. Perhaps one that he has been wanting to try out. Top it all off with a spa treatment, even guys love massages.

If you have pictures of the two of you together, try making a scrapbook. Or you can enlarge a picture and put it in a nice frame.
