Both. Their goal isn't to inform you, but to bring the largest Audience to watch and sell that advertising space at the highest amount possible. In that process crazy evil or brilliant things may be the Avenue to get there.

For most channels on tv, I would have to say evil. They only show things that get ratings and that is usually promiscual sex, drugs, murder, stealing, and lies. All evils we could live without.

for the most part it is evil but I watched the discovery channel the other day and gave me hope for quaility television

Both. There are some things on TV no person should be exposed to. On the other hand, there are wonderful, informative shows - and soaps!
