They are called food Addicts. I have been an addict for many years and it's very difficult. It's a substance that a person must co-exist with not completely eliminate so that makes it more of a challenge to over come. Many people don't understand this exist because food is such a social thing , but it does. Julian

People who are obsessed with food usually have larger emotional/mental issues in their lives that need to be dealt with so I would call them psychologically troubled
It is important to note that food obsessions can lead to over eating and/or under eating depending on the individual case

As long as you're talking about going-out-to-restaurants-obsessed, I'd say "foodie". If you're obsessed with Twinkies and Hot Pockets, I think everyone else answered that pretty well already.

Just like there is anorexia, the opposite is called chronic or compulsive overeating, and Binge-eating disorder.
Binge-eating disorder (overeating) is characterized by periods of uncontrollable eating followed by feelings of shame and guilt. These binges are not usually accompanied by purging, although occasional purging is not unknown. People who suffer from binge-eating disorder are usually overweight and obesity can be a very real problem.
