I know there are men's and women's teams that wasn't the question.

There are men who coach the women's teams, but are there women coaching any of the men's teams?

Do you think it will EVER happen?

Dear Sun*kiss,

i don't think there will ever be a woman coaching a men's division I basketball team. Recruiting for one thing is a big part ot division I ball, and i think most young men are used to playing for coachs that are men in High School, Jr. High etc., so most schools would really hesitate to hire a female coach for that reason. Moreover, i think as we look at kids these days- (this generation of kids doesn't always listen to authority)-- i think schools would also hesitate to hire a woman (just simply because guy basketball players that are good enough to play Division I are likely not going to respect a woman coach).

i might change my mind if we saw more women coaching men even on a smaller level (high school, jr. high, etc.) that would open that possibility.

i know when i played in high school i respected my coach because he played in high school. And the truth is no matter what a woman has accomplished in basketball, i think men in general feel that those accomplishments aren't on equal par (not say as a sexist attitude) but just that men's basketball is at a much higher level than woman's basketball. You can take the best players in the WNBA and have them play the best men's high school players in the country and i think the men would win in a landslide.

Kindly and respectfully,

Nickster
