Why not?
Give me a black and/or female candidate whose views are compatible with my own, and I would not hesitate to vote for him or her. I suspect I am not alone in holding this view.
All these alledged concerns that Americans won't vote for a black or a woman are simply a case of passive aggression on the part of supporters of those candidates who happen to be black or female.
It is an attempt to paint concerns about a lack of gravitas and experience (Obama) or competence and likeability (Hillary) as some sort of soft rascism or sexism.

Race should not be a determining factor when a person votes for a president, representative, or whatever. What matters is the message and the vision that person entails. However I do understand that a lot of people have the means and negative motives to strike down what I just typed. A president other than the typical white male would be a great thing in this country, if it happens. I just hope whoever gets the post understands that they cannot screw up for their race or gender, because if they do, another person of that group will be hard pressed to get the job again, unless of course you are a white male. I am not trying to be a racist, but history has shown us that all US presidents have been white male, and many have screwed up, but they have the money and the power, so they continue to get elected at all levels. If you think this is not the case, research a few lackluster presidents, and for representatives, check out the 109th congress, just for fun.

Sure, as long as that person says the TRUTH. I have issues with both parties, Obama is so liberal he will say anything to anyone to get a vote. What is your policy today? Cause it could change tomorrow. Lets give all of the assests of the government away to anyone who wants them, not to those who deserve them, and expect all of us blue collar workers to take it in the shorts tax increase. Who comes to mind as a black person who could be president, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, lets get real where is the guy who CARES about the USA, not just willing to line his pockets or fulfill an ego trip?
I think a black person could be president, just not this one, we as a country can't afford this man.

Putting personal opinion aside, i dont think if will be anytime soon that we will have any person of color in the office of president...same for women. This country just wont accept it...some of it because of racism, some of it because of the issues we are having with this country and the benefits everyone but white people get, including all the various foreigners illegally living in this country and turing into anti-america...alot of people dont see that as an only mexican issue....so in short No i dont see it happening in my lifetime.

The question isn't really about the person's color of skin...it's about the perceptions of that person by other people. ALL people are judged by one criteria or another, but basing what you feel about a person (or a group of people) simply on the color of their skin is idiotic. It's this kind of thinking that has held us back, us as Americans, for so long.
Will an American be voted President? Yes...regardless of skin color, an American will be President.

Not this election.
Has nothing to do with his race, just his inexperience and the fact that the Dems already have a stronger candidate for nominee.
He might be vice president though.

Probably the same people who think that a woman and a Catholic can be president. Unfortunately it's takes the first one to make believers that it can be done.

The Only people who know it won't happen are the Black People themselves. Only people in Bethesda Maryland think there will be a Black President.
I prayer is that there won't be Hillary president, either.

If its the right person for the job - sure! But, I won't vote for a person based on race, or gender. I vote for the one I like best, and that I think is a right fit for the job.
