Yes. In fact I know a boy named Courtney. And a Tracy, a Stacy and a Kelly. And I've never thought anything of it. I think that certain girly names are cute for boys and the same for girls with guy names. Like Bobbi, Bailey, Kasey or Karson. Now it would be a different story if you were asking if i'd name my son Stephanie or something.

Courtney was used as a mans name a long time ago.. As was Ashley and Whitney. My husbands name is Shannon.. I wouldn't be against names like that. But people today would make fun of guys with names like these because they are seen more as "girly" names. Parents should be able to name their children whatever they like. I actually think it is cute. Court for short. But I would have to think of how many people would make of my child which would probably cause me to pick another name.

No. Courtney is a name that I'm not crazy about, for a girl or for a boy. Courtney as a boy name is definitely more of an old-fashioned thing.

No, I wouldn't but I do know male Courtney's.
In middle school I rode the bus with a boy Courtney. It was originally a male name I believe...
Definitely not my style for a guy! SD

I think it was originally a male name. I wouldn't name my son Courtney, I know too many girls with this name, but I suppose if it was a family name (like my mother's maiden name or something) I might consider it. I would probably call him by his middle name though.

I'm 50. My brother is 62 and his name is Courtney. Since I was raised with this being a man's name, when I started hearing girls named Courtney, it was strange to me (didnt know anyone else with this name when I was young). Its all in what you are used to hearing.
My brother's son 19 tells his dad...You have a girls name.

Yes, there is nothing wrong with a boy having that name. I know some boys with the name Ashley, and people think its okay. I'm sure there is always going to be someone out there that is going to have something to say, but you have look past those people. I think a boy named Courtney is cute.
