people say being christian is doing what Jesus did (that includes dying then raising from the grave, yeah right like that's realistically possible), some say doing what God would do or doing humane and loving things. For example, someone would say to a gay person that they're not christians because they're gay and Jesus wouldn't like that. But chrisians should be considerate and loving to other people, including gay people, not bashing them. Bashing gay people isn't humane so they're not christians to me.

One of the commandments of the bible is to love thy neighbor as you do yourself (paraphrased). The bible doesn't say love your neighbor unless they are gay. All christians should not judge a person based on something that Christians believe is a sinfull action. Only our Lord has the authority to judge, no man/women on earth has the knowledge or the authority to suggest anyone is saved or un-saved. As a Christian I will admitt that all to many people in the name of Jesus and/or Christianity seem to play the part of judge, jury and executioner of people who are gay. I am not one of those and I'm sure I'm not alone, please don't judge me (and those of like mind) like many Christians misjudge you. Some of my closet friends that have stuck by my side more than my own family have been gay (men&women) and I think I was able to become friends with those that are gay even as a Christian is because I feel ones sexuality doesn't define who one is- who one is defines who he/she is. If I was defined because of my hetrosexuality, then after being married twice I would be a fraction of a person because I only got laid a fraction of the time! Being a Christian requires loving everyone and even if you're not a Christian you should still love everyone- if we all did that we wouldn't have as many social and economic issues like we have today. I hope that getting a response from atleast one Christian with common sense can help give you hope that all Christians as with members of the gay community are not all the same. May God bless us all.

The bible teaches love and tolerance not hate and dismissal. Do you remember the place in the new testament were the Roman comes and asks Jesus to heal his manservant. Well in the actual text it is not manservant but sort of like a houseboy or live in lover. Jesus tells him to go home and his "friend" will be healed because he believed more than even his Jewish brethren. If that is not a big OK from the second in command I do not know what is. There were two main reasons the homosexuality was thought of as wrong first gay men can not have children so they can not create more people. The second is because homosexuality was and still is though of as mainly a very adulterous because gay men sometimes have many partners. That as we all know is a sin for even str8 people.

Being Christian is doing what Jesus would do - not literally following the footsteps of his life - dying, etc...) but being a good person and helping when you can.
As for the gay issue - A good Christian may not be a fan of gays, but that doesn't mean that they should go bashing them - they can treat them with the kindness and dignity that all people deserve.

I agree with you. I am NOT a religious person. There are over 200 religions in this world....and every single one of them swears up and down that THEY are right and the way to be. But all of these varying religions are MAN-MADE. And MAN MAKES mistakes. Flat out. So for me to follow behind every bible-carrying zealot tossin out Holy Water just because that is what PEOPLE think i should do.....please. Spare me the torture. So im not into religion. BUT i am a spiritual person. I believe in God. I believe in Jesus. I believe i was made from God's image and UNLIKE man...God doesnt make mistakes. So i'm happy to be a God-loving lesbian.

Christianity is about actions, not words. The biggest hypocrites always tend to shout the loudest, so it can be hard to tell who is genuine. In no way is someone a Christian if they physically or verbally assault others in the name of God.

You can still be a Christian if you are gay it just means that you are living a sinful life. People probably tell you stuff because the Bible says that gay is wrong. God distroyed Sodom and Gamorrah so why wouldn't He still hate gays? You cannot go to heaven if you do not live by the Bible.

Be ye doers of the Word, not hearers only.

Honey, Jesus called people "Thou fool" to point out their error and set them on the right path. Better to be reprimanded in this life, then eternally in the next...that IS mercy!
