Can you get a student loan in order to pay for a dorm or room? As bad as this sounds, I'm new to these kinds of things. I really need to get out of my parents' house and find my own space. Thanks for the help:)

Yep, talk to your financial aid office and they will be able to help you. No worries, it doesn't sound bad, at least you're attending college. That's more than a lot of people can say. Besides, that's what the financial aid office is there for. If everyone knew what to do, there would be no need for them.

Yes, typically student aid is available for tuition, housing, food, and incidentals. In some cases it is based on income, but most of the time jus based on need and the willingness to pay it back once you graduate.

You can approach the YMCA/YWCA or similar organization for your purpose where you get very cheap accommodation and also they would be instrumental o help you for your future accommodation problems
