What is your operating system? If XP, have you upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 2? If not, I suggest you do so, for amoung other security reasons it stops unwanted popups by disableing Windows Messenger Service and Alerter by default. = =SP2 = support.microsoft.com = http://support.microsoft.com/windowsxpsp2

ntl/virgin or any other ISPs are not responsible for pop-ups.. I assume you are using internet explorer, so just go to>
Tools --> Pop-up Blocker --> Turn On pop-up Blocker

This should do it..

Hope this helps & good luck :)

p.s. I am with NTL/Virgin and never had any pop-up problems

You are likely infected with Spyware.

Install some cleaning software such as AdAware: http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html
