there are so many hateful people in the world, including conservative christians and homophobic people. I try hard to give them links and educate them about homosexuality, what God and the Bible really says about homosexuality and people are always like "but the bible says being a homosexual is a sin and you will go to hell!" You explain things, give them references and information and links but they still argue back like you can't get through them. How can we make people understand homosexuality and the relation between that and god? How do we change their attitudes? Hating gay people, killing or torturing them doesn't make things better.

Different is still different. Some folks would be uncomfortable with others over a choice of clothes or style of speech.

And as for "killing or torturing them doesn't make things better"--you do realize that the homosexual mass murderer Jeffrey Dahmer scared and disgusted an enormous mass of folks, don't you? There isn't just one side to this coin.

Certainly some Catholic priests molested little girls, but there are a pile of homosexuals taking refuge in that group so they could molest little boys. There are school teachers that get dismissed or prosecuted because of inappropriate heterosexual activity, but don't think for a moment that homosexuals aren't also being rightly booted from faculties.

How to educate? Be as nice and normal as you can be. They will be flabbergasted if the subject comes up and you tell that you are one. Gay pride parades, as commonly and grotesquely practiced, are not selling your stock.

As a Christan I do not need to be educated on homosexually. I know what my Bible says. Nor do I hate, the Bible it what says you are going to hell not me. Just because we chose not to accept it as normal, or anyone being born that way does not make me homophobic, nor do I agree that they should be tortured or killed. So please tell me what the Bible says, because from what I have read in my Bible, must be different than yours.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCE GUIDE - THE TOPIC OF HOMOSEXUALITY

OLD TESTAMENT

Genesis 13:13 - God calls The MEN of Sodom wicked.
Genesis 18:20; 19:4-5 - we discover that at least a part of that wickedness was homosexuality.
Leviticus 18:22, 20:13 24-30; - God's Law strictly and clearly forbids HOMOSEXUALITY! The penalty for this activity is death.
Deuteronomy 22:5 - the Lord forbids homosexual dressing and cross-dressing.
Judges 19:22 - homosexuals are called - wicked.
I Kings 14:24 - male prostitutes (included homosexuality) - called "detestable".
I Kings 15:11 - male prostitutes were "expelled" from the land. God calls this "good."
I Kings 22:46 - male prostitutes were again "expelled" from the land - this time COMPLETELY. God calls this "good."
Numbers 23:19 - God says that he does not change His mind about His law or Word.
Malachi 3:6- God says that he does not change His mind about His law or Word.

The New Testement

Romans 1:26-28 - The whole topic of homosexuality is addressed and its spiritual origins are exposed. Homosexuality is called: Sinful desires, shameful lusts, sexual impurity, degrading, a lie, perversion.
I Corinthians 6:9-10 -You cannot be a homosexual and be saved!
Sexual Immorality = ANYTHING (including homosexuality, of course) that is clearly against the nature and will of God regarding our sexuality as defined by God's Word. From the Scriptures above Homosexuality is clearly in the category of sexual immorality. The Bible has much to say about those who live in sexual immorality:
Hebrews 13:4 - Sexual Immorality Condemned.
I Corinthians 6:9-10 - WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD
I Timothy 1:8-11 - "pervert" comes from Greek Word (arsenokoitias) that means, Sodomite or Homosexual - specifically - a man who has sex with another man.
Ephesians 5:3-7 - WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD
Galatians 5:19-21 - WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD
Revelation 22:14-15 - WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD

I'm neither a conservative Christian or a homophobic. And I don't need eductated. My opinon is(which myself and everyone on God's green Earth is entitled to,whether right or wrong) is that for one male wanting to make love to another male and f**k in the butt is not normal. Just as men and women wanting to marry each other, it's supposed to be between a man and a women( Adam and Eve were male and female, not mm or ww) But I really don't care what gay couples do behind closed doors, but just don't try and force your views/beliefs on anyone else

It is not a case of education, they know what they are talking about, they are correct sadly, it does say in the bible that it is wrong, as does it say that, practicing spirituality is wrong, witchcraft is wrong, worshiping any idol is wrong, ...
hang on ....god is a spirit!
Going to a large group gathering and talking to something that is not there is practicing spirituality...and what about the cross....that is an idol that most Christians kneal before..
and as for witchcraft....almost all christian religious times like Easter, Christmas..are based on pagan festivals, oh no they are all doomed!

in general its OK for them to bend the rules when they see fit i guess, never mind, i just make sure i do not get in to being Brain washed by the bible!

who would ever had guessed a story book written over hundreds of years would be put together to control so many minds!... close the eyes so they can not see!.. they will be led to the fate of the blind!

and it was all done with a BOOK!

Since they claim to be good Christians, you must try to give examples from within Jesus sayings and deeds to try to get through to them. I mean, no matter if being gay is a sin, God loves everyone... Jesus, was talking about loving everyone not to say anyone.. To be giving, to protect and to take care of each other as we would take care of him. Jesus had also forgiven a whore and let her wash His feet... He has given all sinners the chance to become better.. Why can't they? It is all about being loving and caring for every person in this world, if they can find the love within them, then they will be able to accept, forgive and forget..

TO: sstubs30. This question was not meant for you. It was meant for people who had ideas on how to open the minds of people LIKE you.
The way you answered the question wasn't pleasant, was it?
OK, so you claim to NOT be hateful. Well just read through this category and see all the hate there is toward the LGBD.... the hate, the threats, name calling and insults that my brother has to endure. Do I need to go on and describe the physical threats of hate. Or will it fall on your deaf ears as this question suggests that it does?
- Cristal
When you finally meet God he will let you know that the LGBD are his people, too. Why wait 'til then?

homophobia and conservative christianity are akin to racism and class seperation. most people will never accept the fact that homosexuality id acceptable. you will have a few converts, though. it took hundreds of years before african americans were granted the same rights as whites, and there is still much hatred today. we cant lose our patience or drive. the battle will never truly be won, but we will make headway. the best thing to do is love them and show them that you are no different from them. use their own scriptures against them, not necesarily ones about homosexuality, but those about loving your neighbor. you may not gain their acceptance, but you will gain their tolerance.

I wonder. My favourite is "hate the sin, love the sinner"... to me it is the same as "hate the chocolate, love the chocolate cake"!
All we can do is educate. What they do with the information, we have no control over. Unconditional hate is hard to break.
We have to be proud and kind without hateful words and insults. The tragedy is, if the religious straight would realize that - if they join forces with religious gays and just celebrated the miracle of life we may find more in common than not.

"Let God be real, however each guy a liar." (Rom. three:four) It does not subject what folks say, it issues what the Word of God says. It is flawlessly transparent from New Testament scripture that the gay act is sinful. (Romans a million:26,27; I Cor. 6:nine,10; I Timothy a million:eight-eleven) But the gay act isn't an unforgivable sin. God wishes homosexuals to repent. (Ezekiel 18:32; Acts two:38; II Peter three:nine) If you desire Christians and others to be tolerant, you ought to be tolerant too.
