Out tulips started blooming but the same day they open they fall apart. The petals fall completely open and begin to fall off. Some of the blooms have started to crumble before they even open all of the way. All of the other tulips in the neighborhood last a few if not several days. What is wrong with ours?

It could be a variety of things. First it could be the way that the bulbs were bred. Sometimes they breed them to bloom quicker, but the downfall is that they wilt quicker. Another thing could be the wind. Third it could be poor or inexperianced care. Do you give them plant food? I suggest bulb food and/or bone meal. Bone meal promotes bigger blooms that last longer. It's too late for them this year, but if you decide to dig them up and replant them or if you plant new ones next year bone meal is the way to go. As for this year, you don't have much time left for them to bloom but you should get something like osmocote and plant food spikes. Jobes makes a very good variety. Good luck with your plants.
