When I was a kid i shared an apartment with my whole family for a short while there (2 uncles, 1 aunt, mom, grandma, and four kids). Yea it was gruesome with the snoring. I was taught though to do a loud cliking sound with my throat (back of the tongue against roof of your mouth) - you click twice and wait then try again. The loud click is not enough to rouse a person but it rouses them just a little so that they move their head or change their breathing pattern and 'oila - the snoring stops. Quick, easy, cheap, and - best of all - no criminal liability ;-). Try this in the short time it gets you to get him to see a doctor about it (you'll want a long term fix - I'm sure). Good luck.

Breathe-right strips or throat spray.
If these don't work then have a sleep study done for sleep apnea. Apnea is serious stuff, he could have a surgery done if it's bad enough. Not only will this keep him from suffocating down the road, but the snoring will go away.

Tell him to sleep on the couch a couple nights a week. Just tell him you're not getting any sleep because of his loud snoring. I had the same problem with my husband years ago. Sounded like a pig when he snored. Now he LOVES the couch. Says its easier on his back than a bed. lol And I get a good night sleep!!

im gonna have to disagree with that matthew dude.
my boyfriend is tall and skrawny, and he snores like a motherf****r.
and his dad is just disgusting, some times i wanna puke from the nasty, snotty, gurggling, flemmy, snoring his dad makes, thats why he aint staying over for nights anymore. gross.
my best suggestion is to keep him on his side all night as possible. thats what works for my bf.
not for his dad
good luck

This has helped me a lot:

You can watch the video to see how it works.
It takes about 2 weeks to get used to it. At first, it is very annoying, falls out, etc. Now, there is nothing to it, feel lost without it.

Depending on how bad it is, you might have him see a doctor, could be that he has sleep apnea (sp?) which could be serious. It is worth checking out

I knew people who could not sleep, they snored that loud, and that helped.
But talk to his doctor first.
