I have a ghost captain haunting my ship. It's an old whaling ship, so I think he came with it. Or maybe I picked him up somewhere, but that doesn't seem likely. Help!

Wow! Looks like you need someone to take you seriously! I have gotten rid of ghosts by going to the area where they haunt, saying a prayer for God to guide me in a positive light, and telling them, "I don't see you or hear you but I know you are here. You are dead, so you need to go to the light!"
It seemed to work...there was no more activity after that!

They say ghosts haunt because something is bothering them. I would research the history of your boat and try to find out where he came from and how he died. Then try to remedy the problem.
Of course there is also exorcising if you can find someone who knows the right incantations. Is he a good or bad captain? Has the boat been renamed? Maybe it needs its original name for some reason.

As one last resort, I seem to recall that evil ship spirits disappear when you finally remove that albatross from around your neck.
