It's "ken". German "kennen", to know. It used to be in English dialect as well as the Scottish, but "know" became more popular. (It's from the same root).

I think you mean ken, it's used generally on the East coast of Scotland. I think it comes from the French Connaitre - to know i.e. tu connais? Ye ken? (there's a lot of French influence in Scots)
