We in the US are messed up. We view nudity on a whole different level. About 5 years ago my husband and I traveled to Europe, where nudity is treated quite openly. We went to some resorts where entire families were nude (mom, dad, kids, grandma (eewww), but my point is it's part of the culture. After awhile we even got into the act and I must say it was great. Even after 3 kids I keep myself in pretty good shape, but age and gravity does take it's toll up front if you know what I mean! So at first I was really self conscious, but got over it real quick. (A side benefit was my husband and I were like newlyweds when we got back to the hotel!)

Probably because there are perverts out there, and because nudity is sexually portrayed on television a lot being acquainted with sex, it's inappropriate for children to see, as they do what they see adults do. Also, people will debate on seeing someone thin compared to someone big nude. If you are in shape and have a nice figure, yeah people will enjoy, but let you be 300pds walking around nude, people will cry that's disgusting. So keep the cloths on in public.

Because people think nudity = sex. If people would realize that they were not the same thing, then this wouldn't be such a problem. Nudity is a state of being, not action, so how does it directly harm anyone? It's only harmful because people choose to act offended by it, usually through being taught that it's wrong (and MUST lead only to sex) and not usually thinking more deeply into it.
I have a much more detailed answer in one of my blog posts.

the persons i understand evaluate the two alike; looking on how and why, paintings or vulgar or ****. "****" often involves a intercourse act, although. Nudes of the two sexes have been paintings matters for thousands of years.

I don't consider my naked body vulgar or obscene. I love my naked body from head to toe and occasionally I walk around my apartment naked...... but it doesn't mean I want EVERYONE to see.
