ex: the Patriot Act
while stripping away the rights of due process for ordinary, law-abiding Americans one obviously becomes a "Patriot" in supporting the Patriot Act, otherwise, why would it be named that?

What are some other Constitutional rights we can remove in the name of Patriotism?

My idea of patriotism and having my rights taken away by gov't officials do not equate. I think that congress exceeded their authority when they allowed the "Patriot Act" to pass into law. Most of our senators didn't even bother to read the bill before voting to pass it. If the "servants of the people" can't do their job, it becomes our duty as patriots to seek out the people who will.

In the past, the Sedition Acts have limited free speech. They limited how much could be said against the government during wartime. I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but they did help to keep the media from making a mockery out of our soldiers and government officials. Of course, they were very unpopular, and that is why you don't see them re-enacted now.

Explain this example. Just mentioning its name does not give meaning to your question or argument. We need information in order to form a complete answer.

As to my rights? "They" can try to come and take them, if "they" wish. I am armed, and willing to protect what is mine by right of birth, and with no crime committed to have them stripped of me. When I am lifeless "they" can have my rights. Until then "they" are nothing but my servants.

this version of patriotism makes me want to vomit. i abhor the "patriot act" and it's snarky bastardesque name. the last phrase is a tipoff though, a snarky bastardism itself.
