Keep in mind that your zone does not tell you when to plant, but instead, what can survive the winters where you live. It also does not tell you if a certain type of plant can survive summer heat and drought conditions in an area.

To find out when you can plant, you need to know your last frost date. You can find this information at: http://www.victoryseeds.com/frost/

You can go to the National Arboretums website:

http://www.usna.usda.gov/Hardzone/ushzmap.html

It will show a map of the entire US and Canda, and then let you select a state for a detailed view of your planting zones.

Good Luck!
