Southampton's coach station is at Western Esplanade, in the city centre.
There are several hotels in the City Centre nearby, but I'd recommend Jury's which is reasonably priced and about 5-10 mins walk:

Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality Inn, Clarion Hotel, Sleep Inn, Econo Lodge, MainStay Suites or Rodeway Inn
These are all the same company. I stayed at a Quality Inn and it was great. They had a GREAT FULL breakfast every morning!
