Yes. However, I think a person with a paying job probably deserves it more. Sorry your parents think so too. The key here is to show them how much money a good reliable car can save - maybe b/c of a car you can get a cool job in a field you are interested in majoring in or you could visit more often or you'll spend less on weed cuz you'll have a girlfriend (or something - i don't know this is your problem). Convince them that it is an investment and not just a whiim on your part. Oh yea - and don't ask for a corvette or something ;-). Good luck and keep up the good grades they'll pay for themselves in the long run.

Well, I don't see how maintaining decent grades means you deserve a new car. Alot of people deserve a new car....poor people...nice people....single mothers...hard working people...nice guys. Even people who may have bad grades but are still good people. I think if that person can help pay for the car and insurance, then yes, maybe they do deserve a new car. Or if they have parents well off who can comfortably pay for the car, then maybe. Personally, my parents gave me many cars throughout high school and college. And I had decent grades. But I didn't deserve them. I was into partying and making the wrong decisions and I wrecked everyone of them. Thankfully, I have grown up. Either way...good luck to you or that person...I still hope he gets a car!

What car company is going to give you a free car for having an alright GPA? Especially for the easiest year in college! Surely you're not expecting mommy and daddy to buy you one, are you? Wait a minute, are they paying for your tuition, too? College should be a time when you breakaway from your parents and learn how to live on your own. Get your own place, get a job and work your way through college and buy your own car. Stop depending on them for everything! You want a reward for your GPA? You'll get it when you keep it up and get your degree then you can stick it on your resume and hope your boss will care enough to hire you and pay you good for it. That will be your reward.

i'm no longer addressing all your questions, yet might advise: a million. coming up sturdy learn behavior, 2. getting the suitable grades you are able to, 3. collaborating in better-curricular events to grow to be a properly-rounded guy or woman, and, 4. do no longer beat your self up over identifying right now on your existence's artwork . i'm purely guessing, yet think of which you have until the tip of your sophomore year in undergraduate college to compliment. besides the undeniable fact that, be sure you verify the scientific college catalog to make certain which you're taking the pre-needful classes.

No, you just deserve to pass to the next semester. When you keep a GPA of 3.8 after 4 years then.......you should get a good job and buy one!

Sure, if he's saved up the money to buy one.
Sheesh, like people are just goin' around giving them out or something! Give me a break! How about being glad you're getting your college paid for!!!
This culture of entitlement among the current HS/college generation is disturbing.

Is your college also being paid for? Man, you rich kids....
I have a higher GPA than you- where is my car?
Oh well, I guess the fact that you even asked shows:
A) your folks have the $$ and,
B) you are already spoiled and it is too late for you to learn the true value of hard work and sacrifice to obtain what you desire

If he/she can afford to buy the car themselves. Just because you do good in school doesn't mean you are in-titled to a gift. Sometimes receiving words of praise is a lot better than things.

Well my dad told me I had to get a 4.0 for two years. I think a 3.8 after the sophmore year is better.

No, no college kid needs to be driving a new car. Any college kid's car should have at least 100K miles and have problems from time to time to keep the kid on his toes. Tossing the keys to a new car to some kid who tore through all of his easy freshman classes is stupid.
