First thing is an actual plan. What size? What height? What material.
I would get a book from a home improvement store. Gives you all the does and don'ts, tools required, etc.
Do check with your locality if you need a permit, and make sure it meets local building codes. Some areas you can build a deck on pier blocks, some areas require poured footings, and hurricane straps.

Depending on how much detail you are wanting to put in your deck. I would suggest going to a local hardware store, Home Hardware, Home Depot or even a deck store and have them do a design for you.

If not check out the diy's on the internet.

Hope this helps.

1st make sure your Town or City doesn't want you to pull a permit becasue of laws and codes on building decks..
There are plenty of web site that show how decks are build for free...Home Depot is a good one..
You want to figure out the size, what material you will need...
Ther are easy..
Good luck

Go to the library or bookstore and get a good book that gives step-by-step instruction. Ortho has one, I think.
