A doctor is like your employees, they are supposed to do things how you want them done. If you want to be induced just ask your doctor. If you are already 38 weeks and having contractions then it will give them a better reson for them to actually induce you. .........Although being induced was more painful for me then not being induced......I was induced with my oldest a week before my due date

They don't like having to induce anymore, so just because you are in pain, they are not going to induce you. They won't until you are a day or two before 42 weeks. They aren't going to listen to you when you tell them you want to be induced now, unfortunately that isn't up to you. If there is nothing wrong with the baby there is no reason you can't carry baby to 42 weeks.

most of the time they wont induce unless something is up. if your baby gets to big they will induce but other then that all you can do is ask them. even though your effaced and haveing contractions they wont induce you, thats how i was.. i was accually 100% effaced, 3 cms dialated and haveing mild contractions but they were every 4 mins apart, and i was at 39 weeks and they still wouldnt induce. finally they induced me when i went to the hospital because my contrations got stronger (which they almost sent me home for because i wasnt dialateing any farther and my contractions werent strong enough even though they were regular) well they did an ultrasound before i left and seen low fluid, so they induced. it was like an hour later when they induced me, just long enough for me to get to a room and get undressed.

If you are 100% effaced walk, walk walk.Go walk the curbs, one foot on ground one on the curb.Go for a bumpy car ride. This will help the contractions and doctor just might keep you if you even make it to your appointment tomorrow.I think you will have your little bundle by morning.Good luck and congrats.

i was induced at 5 days overdue and delivered at 40 weeks 6 days. the only reason my doctor induced was b/c my son was so large for my size, i'm very petite.

There is usually no pushing things along, your doctor knows what is best for you and your child. Pregnancy is not always a picnic..........keep that in mind for next time if there is one.
