This goes to Pat. I think it's totally true because at the end of the day you can only trust yourself

That leads to some rather twisted thinking. you need others to bounce ideas off of so you keep thing straight.

Well, you may be the only one you know you can trust, but sometimes you need to trust others others and hope that you are right to trust them. Unless someone has given you reason not to believe them, there is no reason to assume they are lying.
Although I do think it is true that when it comes down to it, you are can only control yourself, and the only person who you can always count on is yourself. This may sound morbid, but family and friends may die, or simply stop caring, and you are the only one you can count on counting on to the end.

I think that statement is totally wrong. If you dont take the leap of faith and believe in others, you will be no more than Ebenezer Scrooge. Merry Christmas. Pax - C.

If we believe ourself only, it should be after we have gathered information and opinions in order to form our own truth. If we believe ourself only with no points of reference, we could be the President of the United States.

While it's true you can only truly know oneself, it's not a good idea to always trust oneself. We lie even to ourselves much of the time. We need outside input. We just have to choose judiciously whose advice to take. It's one of the gambles of life.
