Hello, I have a new microtrack recording device that has an RCA "S/PDIF" input.. I purchased 2 different RCA "S/PDIF" cables, and neither fit.. the input on the device is flush with the unit itself, the RCA cables go into the hole fine, but are prevented from going in far enough for a good connection by the ring around the cable.. any ideas ?

Yes- definitely not toslink - its RCA on the device ( M-Audio Microtrack ) and I purchased the Monster IDL 100 cable - which is coax

S/PDIF can either be RCA jack or toslink. Are you sure you have the right cable?

additional comments:

Ahh yes I do see that! It is unfortunate that they recessed the connector. Apparently they didn't take into account cables that use RCA connectors with larger outside diameters. Since RCA S/PDIF is 75 ohms and video is 75 ohms you might want to try video cable. I'm assuming a very short run? If so, quality may not matter much. Also, have you considered using 75 ohm cable with BNC connectors and a BNC to RCA adapter. If the adapter is the right size that migh work. Hope this helps!
