have you ever thought it to be strange about the stereotypical power rangers?

In the original power rangers, the red ranger was Native American. The black ranger was black and danced. The yellow ranger was oriental. The pink ranger was the prettiest and white and a gal (to this day I can not remember the pink ranger not being white?) and the blue ranger was a boy. The white ranger was white.

I mean out of all of the colors to choose from. The power rangers ended up being the colors that represented their race or the colors that represented their gender.

Why did this come out to be like this?

I didn't know the guy playing the frist red ranger was Native American.

at least with the expection of the black ranger break dancing all the time the characters didn't go to far into stereotypes.

The Asian Ranger could have been the smart one, etc.

I guess it was just lazy writing. the colors where all ready set because Power Rangers was based on a long running Japanese show and used some of it footage. But they didn't have to cast the person playing each ranger based on his/her skin tone. The White girl could have been the Yellow ranger, The black guy could have been the blue range, the Native American could easly have been white, etc.

I remember that. Wasn't the yellow ranger always Asian, and the pink ranger was the gorgeous white girl who got with the top ranger all the time. I watched it recently, and it was so bad it was funny. The Asian girl is a scientist, the black male is a thief, and the Native American is an "Indian" stereotype.

Interesting observation, but I definitely don't know the answer to your question. I do know that in some later power ranger things they made blue did switch to a girl for a couple of seasons and yellow switched to a boy.

I've also noticed this. Unfortunately, the original Power Rangers was from the early 90s and, therefore, we cannot apply reasoning to it.

i thin your getting the orginal roster confused with some of the others. in the original the yellow rangers was black. it wasn't untill the 2nd or 3rd season that the asian girlwas in yellow and i dont remember ever seeing the a black guy in the black power ranger outfit

That was obvious to me even as a kid. Apparently it has not changed much. My nephew told me the black guy now is a thief and the asian girl is a scientist.
