I dont think you would have an allergic reaction to spray tans, but read the ingrediants. My skin is dry too,try quench body lotion,I LOVE that stuff, nothing would help my dry skin until that. I have used a product that you just put on yourself, but unlike other tanners that make your skin even worse when they come off you just put it on when you need it and you can just wash it off when your done! Its called Neutrogena Sheer Bodytint. It wont rub off on your dress either, it shows up instanly and its a great way to get a tan when you need it and take it off when your done!! You should try it!

I would say to skip the spray tan. It only looks good on people with certain coloring. If you have light skin it can look really bad. Also with dry skin it can look really bad because it does not go on easily.
I used a fake tan before I went on vacation. I had to go and wear shorts with really funky looking legs from the fake tan product.
You do not want a fake tan mishap before prom just be happy with your skin the way it looks because it looks better the way it is. Anyway it is getting more in style to have light skin because it has not been dammaged by the sun and you stay younger looking.

A test patch is a great idea-
I also have red hair, and a spray tan I got looked very natural and I loved it. It was the first time I didn't look "day-glo white".

I wouldnt do a tan spray. I think that people would notice and it would look fake because you are normaly fair skinned. I think you should get a dress that accuentes your fetures and looks amazing, people will be so focused on how good you look they wont even care about the color of your skin.

Don't do it! I've heard so many horror stories -- and your skin may turn yellow for the big day.
