A little side note...I've read many Answers on Yahoo! comparing Ovechkin and Crosby. What is comes down to is there is no comparision at all. Crosby dominates Ovechkin in everything. And every hater of Crosby is just jealous because there team does not have the best player in the league..

To novaicedogs...crosby's 111 points to Ovechkin's 86? yeah...that's what I thought....and scoring isn't everything...assists are sometimes the most spectatular part of games..

Also, everyone keeps saying the reason Ovechkin isn't shining is because he is on a bad team. Does everyone forget how bad the Penguins were last year? Crosby made the Penguins what they are today. He did it through teamwork, assisting and his passion for his team.

Yes. Whoever doesn't agree that Crosby is the best player-all around player even is out to lunch. These people who like to say he whines heard something on TV or the internet and decide to run with it. They actually know nothing about hockey. Goborik LOL. Ovechkin cannot touch Crosby with a 10 foot pole and he is IMO the definition of a one way player-kinda like Pavel Bure. He needs to work on his defensive prowess whereas Sidney IS the full package. Few people know this, but Crosby is actually a darn good fighter but yeah, that's what you want, your SUPERSTAR and youngest player to ever win a scoring title (in a couple of weeks he'll be) to break his hand in a fight.
The only comparison, which someone already mentioned is maybe Brodeur but he is a goalie and getting up there but in the case if I had to pick one player to use in a game 7 right now, it would be Brodeur.
It shouldn't even be a question anymore. I think it is jealousy.

hold on! HOLD ON! There is no way, no way at all that u can possibly say ovechkin doesn't even compare to crosby. first of all i'm freakin sick and tired of people saying "Oh well crosby has more freakin points so he's better DANG!" well you know what maybe if ovechkin had someone who could put the puck in the net he could get a few assist too. Crosby has Malkin, Armstrong, Stall, the list goes on. He has people on his team that can SCORE! You can't get an assist if ur teammates don't SCORE! Hello is that too hard of a concept? Plus have you ever seen crosby lay someone out like ovechkin does time and time again? NO! So i agree hockey isn't all about because hitting is important too. Plus Ovechkin scores a lot of goals without guys to help him! If you put Crosby on the Capatals i don't think he would have that many points. I'm not saying he's a lot better but come on hockey isn't all about a pretty face people.
oh and in response to crosby's 'amazing goal' feast your eyes on some true talent

What is the question??? or is this just a rant?
Listen, Crosby is great. Ovechkin is great.... Why do we have to constantly have to make this comparison daily on here???????
Anyone who really studies the game knows that Crosby is great. Personally, I won't say "he is the best player in the NHL..." This season he might have the stats to show he has excelled in scoring stats but there are a lot of elements to the game. I don't even say that anyone one player is "the best player in the NHL..." I mean I am not looking at this as a comic book (Who is the best superhero ever???... who cares to get into such subjective arguments).
Just be happy to know that Crosby is in a elite class of players.... He is and no one disputes that. By the way, Ovechkin is ALSO in that elite class. Just accept it and move on.

Well you are SUPPOSED to have a question, that's how it works here.
Obviously you are looking for someone to sing his Praises, this is not a true question.
Actually I agree with the first part of your statement but not the second.
Brodeur is very quietly having what may be the best season EVER by an NHL Goalie, and Luongo is not that far behind Brodeur.
And I think it is REASONABLE to argue for Ovechkin. He is getting a LOT less help. (Interesting how with everyone here that argument means nothing, then they'll turn around and use the exact same argument when comparing Gretzky and Lemieux).
Nor are Thornton and Lecavalier so far behind in scoring that they exactly need a telescope to see Crosby, in fact it's still not impossible that they would catch him.

Crosby is a little baby with no toughness. His team is not going anywhere in the playoffs and anyone who thinks he is the best in hockey knows nothing about hockey. The best isn't Ovechkin either so all you idiots shut up too. Right now you have to say the best is Thornton due to his stats the past two years. I even say Jagr is better. Crosby is the most over hyped player in all of sports.

No doubt he's the best player in the NHL. He's the leading points scorer...end of discussion.
I have to order Center Ice to watch the Pens since I moved out of Pennsylvania and I had the Caps commentators tonight. Even they were talking about how they were 100% certain that Crosby will be the league's MVP this season. How can you argue with the opposing team's commentators? I love to hear stuff like that...and wait, who plays for the Caps??? Alex Ovechkin??? Didn't hear his name mentioned as MVP by their commentators...
Let's Go Pens!!!

Points wise? Yes Crosby is the best. As far as the best all around player, no, not yet. Sakic, Thornton, Brodeur, Leclavier to name a few are all just as good talent wise as well as being proven leaders. A few years from now when he knows everything about the league then yes he will be hands down the best, but not yet.

Gaborik is a european. We all know they are done once the regular season is over. Sid is a huge reason the Pens are where they are but teams win championships not individuals. The Kings had Gretzky all those years and got to the finals once. Only time will tell.

Well you could argue Marty Brodeur is better, but not sure there are very many centers or offensive players you could call better. I think you could find some though. I think Crosby is still a little raw as to how that would work out.
