If the worst should happen and we fail to win should the F.A. relieve him of his duties and may be think about promoting Venables for the remainder of the campaign or would that be a step backwards.

One would have to say if england fail to give andorra a thorough spanking, then several points would really need to be addressed.
1. Who is steve mclaren, apparently according to a drunken smog monster his resignation spurred middlesborough to their best premiership start for five or so years, so perhaps it could do the same for england?
2. Why was basil brush not appointed as england coach, that cunning and guile would be well harnessed in our midfield, also being a fox, he would probably be aware what is supposed to happen in the middle of a field?
3.If a team has ten men camped in their own half, why do we need four defenders?
4. Has anyone ever seen sven the stupid swede and mrs mclaren in the same room?
5. What actually does frank lampard actually do apart from ruin the few promising attacks england make these days by indescriminantly knocking out people in row z with speculative goal kicks?
6. Is the aforementioned mr mclarens idea of a radical tactical change toturn up at the pre match press conference on the wrong day?
7. and of course to answer the question. Yes he should resign, as of the fa relieving him, I think the entire england team should relieve themselves, all over mr mclarens tactical accumen, that should not take long and then they can get themselves off to a night club, get lashed up and let us all see if they can score off the pitch, The vast amount of money they have been paid for 90 minutes incompetancy and five days holiday at a plush training camp, one would hope even someone as talented at stuart downing would be able to buy a spanish golddigger.

No.

I have to ask however, just WHO HAS been a successful manager for England besides Alf? Because England has only 1 World Cup and NO Euros to its name in its footballing history. They just fired a guy that helped England to the WC Qtr-final with a finish consistent with its team ranking, and a loss to a higher ranked team on penalty kicks.

Considering the fact that England dumped Sven and exiled the team captain (that most seem to now want BACK in the squad) I would say that England’s biggest problem remains its media and fans.

Its not as if England has the trophy cabinet of Brazil, Italy, Germany or France. Perhaps the players and manager might find the courage to pull off a decent run if the "fathers of football" would stop trying to convince the world and themselves that they’re underachieving no matter how well they perform.

You're right. How can you get so many excellent players to play so badly as a team? Venables only lost the job originally because of some seedy stuff going on in the background, but was the best modern manger weve had in ages. Still think big sam would be good in charge

He shouldn't be there now. Never should have got the job in the first place. Venables shouldn't get the job though, it should go to somone unconnected with the setup at the moment. A proper clear out is required

After the bungling efforts the fa made with the last manager McClaren is safe even if we fail to qualify, they might even give him a longer contract lol!!!!!!!!!!!
all at the FA should be relieved of their duties they are not fit to manage our national game they have bought shame to our beautiful british game with a sucession of yes men
we need some who has the balls to stand up to the premiership clubs and the balls to drop players out of form reguardless who they are or what they have done

If McClaren was going to do the decent thing, he'd have turned the job down.

There are some fantastic 1st division managers who would do a cracking job as England Manager. They are used to working with non-elite footballers. Imagine what they could do with some big names.

England hasn't had a half decent manager since Terry Venebles. Thats how shambolic they are.

Not all McLaren's fault.

Who could motivate a group of multi-millionaires to risk injuring themselves playing for England and damaging their lucrative club careers?

I'd agree McLaren seems bloody clueless, but there's 11 men on the pitch playing fantastic football for the clubs that pay their wages, yet most don't give a fxxk when it comes to England.

What's the answer? Dunno, but things need shaking up a bit. The "jealous of Beckham's superstar status" excuse doesn't wash any more. His England career is over and they're worse than ever without him.

I think he should go if the unthinkable happens against Andorra but i am sure our over paid under achievers will scrape a win.To be honest i dont rate Mclaren but who else could we choose has we have so many foriegn managers in our leagues.

England are 40/1 ON to win against Andorra tomorrow. If we fail to win it will be one of our worst results of all time, and we will have a really slim chance of qualification. I think we should wait until we don't qualify THEN sack him. fair enough!!!

i think mc claren should have gone already, my god one goal under his belt and no wins!!!!!!! lets not make the same mistake we did with the turnip! i personally love venables and think he would do a much better job ...at least for the rest of this campaign, Allardice should have got it over mc claren in the first place, good luck to our boys tomorrow, we need a dramatic win... something along the lines of the "5-1" germany victory.... i will watch with trepidation.
