The answer depends on how old you are and how much you are able to comprehend!
The statement "light at the end of the tunnel" is a expression of hope, of positive optimism. When people like you, me, everybody go through some troubled times, they often wonder how long will such hardships last, how much more should we suffer & toil and how much is worth all this (as in a dark tunnel where you totally lose your sense of belonging, don't know where you are, where you are going). If then anything happens to provide a glimmer of hope, of success, of worth, that appears as a sign of nearing the end of the difficult times. When you see the light end the end of the tunnel, the end of the tunnel itself is very near!
So, ya.. I believe there is light at the end of every tunnel. Every diffcult time that we go through, is not here to stay, it is here to pass!
