the only one with power to keep everything the way he wants it to be? Maybe my question should have been does the President have too much Power?

Congress passes the laws, not the President.

Have they tried to change any laws taking power away from the President?

Well, yes, they just took away his power to hire attorneys without the consent of the Senate.

Other than that, Congress doesn't seem to mind his power too much. Why do you?

Well, the Constitution intended to establish a seperation and balance of power. However, foolish and greedy lawmen have ruined the priceless principles set forth in that inspired document. The way it was intended, there would be no problem with having a president. Today, though, we have corrupt men such as Bush and many, many others who have created and are furthering a situation where our president is a virtual dictator (think "executive order").

Edit: If you are "thumbing me down" because I suggest an imbalance in power, then you are obviously the one in need of a political science class. Are you aware that the congress granted the president the right to assume legislative power without check and without question, via executive order. Thus, American presidents can and have signed into law some very astonishing things, untouched from any other branch of the government (not to mention the fact that supreme court and even lower judges have become quite fond of creating law from the bench through precedent that is totally unbased and unconstitutionally guided).

We live in a Constitutional republic. It is based off of the fact that three branches of gov. all have equal power. The legislative branches can do almost nothing without the authorization of the executive, the executive can do almost nothing without the legislative. The judicial is supposed to be the referee. All branches are accountable to the constitution. Each branch has specific duties and powers which are specifically outlined in the constitution. Please read the document. It would be better than all of us chiming in with our opinions as to what the constitution says. There are many tightly facts that are actually fiction. You also might want to read the Federalist Papers. They would offer up the intent of the founding fathers on what they wanted.

Our government has three branches of the government in order to have checks and balances on political power. The President is the head of the administrative branch of the government, and is in charge of administering the laws that the legislative branch enacts. Separate branches, separate responsibilities and powers.

He doesn't have the power to keep everything the way he wants it to be. Our government is set up with a system of checks and balances. If the Congress is strongly opposed to something the President wants to do, they can prevent him from doing it. They just need to have enough votes to override his veto.

That's not true. We have three bodies of power: Judicial, Legislative, and Executive. Each is accountable for one another. Read up on your history.
