My daughter will be turning 5 Sept. 9th and i am shopping around for a good, well qualified public school in Orange County.

I live in Anaheim, and the Public School system is a mystery to me as i was in Private Schools all my life. I would like to enroll my daughter in a private school, but most require her to be 5 by Sept. 1st (which means she would not be enrolled until the following year! i don't want her to fall behind).

Any suggestions or advice ANYONE??? Please....thank you!

generally speaking, you have to attend the school that corresponds to your residence. Each public school has its boundaries, and residents who live within the school boundaries send their kids to that school.

Conversely, students who reside outside of the boundaries cannot enroll in the school.

The only exceptions are charter and magnate schools, which have limited spaces for those students who live outside of the boundaries of the schools, in which case you will see parents camping outside of the school days before registration begins, since registration is first-come, first served.

By the way, Anaheim public schools really suck. Too many illegal aliens. To find out which school your child will attend, go to the city of Anaheim web site (http://www.anaheim.net). Click on About Anaheim, and then the City Directory. On that page there is a section on Education with links to the different school districts.

If you live in Anaheim Hills, you are lucky. Your kids go to schools that belong to the Orange Unified school district.

There's a good Catholic school off of Golden Coast hwy. My daughter runs the school there.
