We know who the drug-dealers are, we know who the gun-toters are, we know who the burglars are and the auto-thieves in our communities. So why can't we take the laws into our own hands. It seems the police can't do much. The laws protect the criminals more than it does the victims. If there was a vigilante group in my community, I would be very tempted to join. PLEASE DON'T GIVE ME THAT RHETORIC ABOUT ME BEING AS BAD AS THE CRIMINALS BS.

I keep wondering about this, laws are supposed to monitor the way we behave in society, in order to have peace. Unfortunately laws have been twisted by crooks and even more crooked lawyers. I'm sure doing away with the scum of society is tempting, especially when they keep getting away with it, but I conclude that I probably could not live with myself if I did.

Depends if you have it posted so the people can see the signs. There was a case a few years ago in the states where the criminals sued a store owner and won since the store owner released lived snakes in his store every night when he was closing up for the night. Well since the owner didn't have signs posted saying he has "Guard snakes on the property" and the criminals broke into his store and got bitten it was the owners fault even through the criminals were in the act of breaking and entering, and also in the act of robbing the store.
I don't remember if the police charged the owner of the store or not since the police had been to this store over the past years before this accident to take reports of robberies that were being reported by the owner.

"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".

"The law" doesn't protect criminals more than it protects victims. "The law" protects everyone equally. No one in this country has a right to deny others their right to life or liberty without due process. Vigilante groups do not give due process. They give what ever the hell they want and what they feel is right....just like those drug dealers and gun-toters.

You don't want BS about being as bad as the criminals? Then don't join the vigilantes and become a criminal.

The just as bad as criminals mught be rhetoric but it is not BS. Spend your energy elcting people who give a damn about your community and who will do something positive in it.

Why do you hate the killers and drug deals so much? because they kill people? Well welcome to the club. It might be effective at first but then you may just start a war with the criminals in your neighborhood. Is that what's really safe for your children and families?

Get a few really good taggers to put on an advertising campaign where-ever these people operate. For instance; If a drug dealer has a special spot(and they all do),TAG him with an advert. It should read something like---Need a good BUZZ?See so and so right here at such and such a time.Quality dope at reasonable prices.Post this type of stuff and they will soon disappear,Hopefully.Worth a try?Luck to you,"Link"

anarchy! there would be anarchy! Actually, by definition, when a society matures to the point that law enforcement is no longer required because justice is taken care of by social conscience via the citizens, that is an anarchy. people often mistake it for lawlessness when in fact it's quite to opposite. Unfortunately, I doubt that there's any society on the planet which is that mature and it's citizens that socially conscience.

Cops and other public servants get paid whether they make a real effort or not. Anarchy won't work. Our government is too embedded. There's always Dial-A-Snitch (Crimestoppers), but that's chancy, too, as the criminal justice system protects nobody.

First and foremost; the police INVESTIGATE crimes, the court system is responsible for punishment.

That stated...Yes we know who the bad people are. And yes we COULD punish them. But then what, who decides what get punished and how severe would that punishment be?

Our system may not be perfect, but it is far better than the alternative that you propose.

i think you could, but if taking the law into your own hands, you are putting your life there also. i would really think about that. you could always try to set up a video camera and tape them, but i would be worried about the after fact. if it were me, i would find a new place to live. what ever you do, be careful.

You could be part of a Neighbourhood Watch Program, or call Crimestoppers.
