Actually, one of the best comforters for children whom have either a " Bully " bothering them, or being " Piked-On " need some one to talk too. Parents can be to busy or just not concerned, but a pet can be a "3rd" person they can confide in and gain more personal strengths by getting the frustrations out. Give me a pet anytime....My parrot has been spoiled rotten !! When we eat rib-ey steak, so does she, and don't show her baby-back BBQ ribs.......LOOK-OUT !!

I have seen some people that are borderline neurotic with their pets. They dress them, carry them in little bags, drive with them on their lap and everything. I used to have a friend who had custody of her dog drawn up in her divorce proceedings and her and her ex husband would have to exchange the dog like it was a child. Mostly I see people being this way towards the little dogs. That's why I prefer big dogs.

I think its ridiculas at times.. i now someone who even goes out their way to by a HAPPY MEAL for their dog. I am not saying its wrong to bond wiht your pets but attachments that are meant for humans could hurt you or the pet in the long run.. you don't want to get too attached..

In todays world we are livin in, I feel it is much better to communicate with pets as they give you a warm sense of feeling and belonging, they feel your moods, they are happy when you are, you can see happiness in their eyes, they feel your pain, when you are sad and down in the dumps, they will come as close as possible to you, although, they cannot speak to you, they surely know, when you need a hug, or someone to talk to.....Today Your Pet, Can Be Your Very Best Friend........................................................

Sometimes its just an emotional closeness. I work with a woman who's dearly loved husband has just passed. He was homebound and all he really had for company was their dog. This woman is very sentimental about this dog and I suppose it helps her in healing when she looks at her dog and thinks of those special moments.
