This Q is aimed @ a certain individual but addresses all racists too.
You know who you are-I want to ask a serious question & I want you to be a grown up for a minute and think.
People aren't born racist-so I am curious to know what has happened to you to make you racist only towards black people? Your extreme prejudices don't just appear out of thin air-why are you so 'obsessed'? I'm trying not to judge you for a moment and trying to take a step back & understand why you feel like this?
Were you attacked?Mugged?Robbed?Abused in some way by someone who was black? Did your parents give you this opinion? Were you raised to be racist despite being in a minority group yourself?
Where do you get your facts?Because I have black friends and none of them have done anything you accuse all blacks of,I have friends of many races & religion;Chinese,Black,Asian,Jewish,Hindu,Muslim etc..and it's extremely unusual for any of them to badmouth another minority. Why do you?

I totally agree with you all.
My parents (esp. my dad) are extremely racist-I saw first hand some real nasty abuse aimed at blacks,Asians,etc...and was brought up that they were all "sc*m of the earth" (to quote daddy dearest) but I have always been disgusted by racism-I defied them throughout school and my 3 closest friends were a Chinese girl,Iranian/Muslim girl & a black girl.....they tried everything to poison my mind with all the cr*p I'm now reading from racists on here! But it didn't work-just made me defend them all the more because I knew it was wrong.

Maybe Ive been lucky growing up,i had friends who ranged in colour from pale blue to black and it didn't make any difference to me or my parents.
I always think it beggars belief that you could dislike someone because of colour or religion,if they happen to be mean obnoxious and Chinese dislike them because of the mean and obnoxious part.
I remember telling a flatmate years ago, a friend i had brought home was gay, and his reply was "as long as he doesn't try anything with me" A voice shouted "Don't flatter yourself pal" lol
Love and be friends with who you want, and the ones who have a problem with it? pity them.x

Racism in one form or another is part of human existence. Groups need "enemies" to define themselves. That's just the way we are as humans. Think of the West vs the East or The Developed World vs The Third World.
We usually assume that racism is always done by the dominant (read white) ethnic group towards minorities (red, brown, yellow and black) people. This is certainly (historically) true in the West, where "native" whites have long had cultural and economic dominance, but it does not give the complete picture.
I was born in Africa, studied in the UK and now live in The Netherlands. It shocks me sometimes when I listen to my mother speak. For example, she once advised me that "White women are lazy and do not like to work", that "White women show no commitment to marital relationships". These statements, I know, are untrue.
Does my mother think these viewpoints to be racist? No. Do I? In a sense.
Since my Mom knows a few white women, who may have been "lazy", she has extrapolated that all white women (European, American, Canadian and Australian) must be lazy and shallow. Does this sound familiar?
So racism occurs on all levels between and among groups as a means of classifying cultural "others".
But is this kind of "racism" necessarily a bad thing? Maybe not. If my mother were to move to the UK and meet with regular, hard-working British women, she would change her mind quite quickly. Her "racism" does not demean or diminish the humanity of others.
The kind of racial prejudice that is insidious is the one that diminishes other humans, caricatures them, that does not appreciate their complexity (as one would a member of one's own ethnic group) and that refuses to change, even when presented with evidence to the contrary. Instead, it gives a jaundiced interpretation of the evidence to confirm the prejudice. That is the dangerous kind of racial prejudice.

well i am 100% not racist but i do understand why some people are. there are certain stereotypes that are true to most people in a certain race/culture. like Indians can be cheap in things like they will pay £1 but not £1.10 or that black people smoke special C and sell stolen goods. the list can go on... so most racist people know and dislike these stereotypes and choose to not like the people they belong to. my friend Sam is from Bangladesh(like India for those of you) and he is racist to white people, he says he racist to white people because they are racist to him :S now this is seriously messed up right here. also he says everything is racist then says hes joking after, say he doesn't get picked for something he would say oh that's just racist, when people look he goes nah just joking. its like he is constantly aware that he is Bangladeshis-Asian or something. and BTW i did not make up the stereotypes, they are my experiences.

When I was 13, there was a boy I fancied, he was mixed race and very good looking, he asked me out but I said no because I was always told that if I brought a NON white boyfrind home I would come in the front door and go straight out of the back. I wish I had gone out with him because he was very nice and I know my parents would've liked him.
It's just sheer IGNORANCE!

plain and simple poverty. poverty breeds anger. anger breeds hatred. and then you cannot have hatred towards your own people so you direct it at other races. black people get it more because were the racists dropped the ball in their respective lives, blacks are excelling in all those areas. sports, rap, swagger, wealth (dont believe the hype the black middle class is about 20 million) etc etc. so a poor white person sees all the success with the black person and they feel envy. back in the depression era, it was a succesful black town. well poor poverty stricken white people (backed by the law then but of course they cant get away with that **** in this day and age, they replace it with racism anger and envy) went into that town and tore it up and took everything the blacks owned because they were jealous of seeing succeful blacks. they cant do that now so they replace their failures in their life with racism

I don't understand racism. Many racists claim they want to keep this country pure (GB & USA) but i'll put money on it that they cannot trace their roots back to the original people who lived in the repesctive lands, many people who live in Britain are from "incomers" so claiming to try and keep our country pure is BOLLOCKS.
I am a yorkshire man with German, Gypsie and Irish roots who is very proud of where all my ancestors came from.
Why discriminate against skin colour? surly if they just bleed red then thats all that matters?

Have you ever seen those ignorant idiots on a talk show, preaching white supremacy? If a child is born into that type of hostile back woods type of environment, they don't stand a chance in hell of being a decent human being. Even if they tried their father would beat them into submission. Sad but it happens everyday.

I believe racism is stemming from ignorance, and lack of education. Most of the people who write racist remarks are confused about their facts about status of people or the countries they were from. They usually learn this kind of behavior from their parents. Its usually stemming from fear and frustration. Alot of these people are poor and they cannot blame themselves for the mess they are in, so they blame it on the minorities because they cannot blame themselves. When you take these same people and expose them to large cities and countries and give them an education they are totally different. So its ignorance and poverty
