I'm planning on taking this next year in my junior year of high school. I'm in a regular chemisty course right now and have an A. I find it easy, so i was wondering how much harder the AP version is......so if you've taken the course, could you tell me how it compared to the regular course and if it was hard?

It's not supposed to be hard if you have an A in Chemistry, I also have an A in Chemistry and it's easy so I know how you feel. I was about to pick AP Chem for next year but I chose AP Bio instead (because I like Biology more), however you should be able to use your graphing calculator perfectly and familiarize with chemical equations and be ready to memorize formulas that will help you in different areas of AP Chemistry. If you have a good grade in math, it should be even easier to you, just like me.

However, many people have different experiences from the same class, some find it fun and others find it frustrating regardless of their past grade in chemistry. The best way to be ready for the class is to study your chemistry notes and find information about AP Chem online or in your school. These are tips that I'm trying out and I helps me understand how difficult these AP courses are. Go to www.wikipedia.com or www.collegeboard.com for more information. Good luck!

I took AP Chemistry without taking regular chemistry and I found it challenging but not too difficult. I got a 4 on the AP exam which counted as college credit. If you are planning on going to college, I would definitely recommend taking AP classes in high school. Whatever you decide, best of luck to you.

Well I am going into AP Chemistry too.
My teacher this year teaches us the same exact way she teaches her AP class.
If you have an A in Chemistry you should definitely take it. If your pulling stellar grades in regular there is no reason not to do it in AP.
Also, remember to take the SAT II in Chemistry. Most colleges like to see 2-3 SAT II taken my students.
Well good luck =]

Well from someone who hadn't taken any AP/advanced placement classes in high school to begin with, the regular chem class was quite difficult for me as it was ;)

AP is above Honors. AP stand for Advanced Placement. If ur getting an a in Chemistry, go for it, challenge ur self and see how you like it...

I had AP Chem in high school - if you are looking for more of a challenge, take it. Plus, the credits carry to college, so that's a bonus!
