A week, make sure you wait a week. Side effects start after a week and are usually gone within a month or two. As soon as your body gets used to the pills and all the extra hormones.

If you read the little pamphlet that came with your pills it will explain all the details to you.

Usually it takes about a month to start taking effect. That also depends on the type of BC you are taking. Others may be sooner. But with the pill it is usually one month. And side effects are usually within the first few months of taking the BC.

My doctor always told me to use another form of birth control (like condoms) during the first 15 days of starting the pill.

Side effects can happen immediately, like feeling nauseous, bloated, mood swings, tender breasts.
