My wife started MK about 6 weeks ago and so far she has done great. My advice to you is that you do indeed have to treat this like a business. Too many people fail or complain etc. about rip offs/not making money etc. but if you honestly work hard at this, it will pay off. But, again, you to keep it in your head that this is a business, one where you need to invest in, one where you do need inventory, one where you do have to do things that may make you feel uncomfortable. I wish you luck. I think you will do great.

I also have two children and started Mary Kay this past summer. I had looked into Arbonne and Avon, but decided to go with mary Kay because it is the product I have used the longest and I thought they had the best business plan.

There is no way to know if you will be good at it until you try. But, my expierence is, that if you are willing to do a little work, then you will do well. No, you won't make major money unless you work at it a lot! But, just for extra cash, it is easy to find an hour or two here and there to sell a couple items.

The nice think about MK is that once you are active you always make a 50% profit and you have no selling requirements. You don't have to do parties or meetings and aren't required to do any inventory.

I say go for it! If you have any more questions, please email me!

I just came back from a Mary Kay Career conference and I watched a 91 year old women go across the stage debut as a sales director. We make the decision so much hard then it is. Do you like the product? is the 100 investment worth it to give it a try. Do you believe in the product and the company?

Doesn't seem like there is a lot of money in Mary Kay, but thats just my opinion. Plus there are already a lot of consultants. I'm a consultant for Purse Party. Wouldn't you rather sell purses and jewelry for extra money?

I use to sell Avon. I loved it. I am going to go back in a few months and do it again. (I stopped for personal reasons - which have nothing to do with your reasons of questioning.) I think that Avon is a better product other than Mary Kay and the otherone mentioned here alot. I think that because although Mary Kay is a great product, it is expensive. So is the other company. Plus, many people never heard of the other company (like me) and that could affect your sales.

Avon sells more than just make-up, which is what I love about them. They catter to women, men, children, and even teenagers with mark. mark. is a great line of products that you get to sell (even though you can sell it seperately) along with Avon. I love their products. I would go with Avon since you will also have mark. and you will be opened to sell with everyone. Everyone wants to buy Avon.

Selling Avon, you can also host parties (like the Purse Parties and Partylite, spa parties, and jewelry parties). You can also do this with mark. Avon has their own website for representatives and even offers some education and tips on selling to people.

Try Arbonne. It's far superior. Cruelty free, all natural; created in Switzerland, made in the U.S.A. (Mary Kay has restrictions when you make in-house presentations but you find that out after the fact.)
