When I get that sign in iTunes it's because I have moved that file from the folder it was previously located into another. So I double click that file in iTunes and I'll get a dialog box saying that the file cannot be found would I like to locate it now and I just press Yes button it look for the new location of the mp3 file. Good luck!

I've never had this happen to me, but it sounds like they might be in a format that's readable by iTunes but not supported by the iPod firmware. Check the file extensions on these songs. If they are intended for use on an iPod, they should generally have either the .M4A (used for both AAC and Apple Lossless) or .MP3 (the only universal format) file extension. If they are in .WMA format, you can convert them for use on an iPod, unless they are in DRM-protected .WMA format (in which case you can't convert them at all).

To convert audio files for use on an iPod, highlight the songs that you want to convert, pull down the Advanced menu, and select "Convert selection to X" where "X" is the current default format for ripping music from CDs (the original default for iTunes is 128kbps AAC).
