With all this compensation seeking from the relitives of slaves i'd like to ask where mine is. I'm related to Dr hardy. Who was on the same boat as Nelson when he got shot, during the battle of Trafalgar.
Does that mean i'm entitled to some compo?
Lets all look back to our ancestors and get rich quick.

I'm an American of Norwegian and Irish descent. Im thinking about suing the University of Notre Dame and the Minnesota Vikings for all the mental anguish I've been dealt over the years by their insensitive mascots. When the leprechaun gets tossed around and is forced to do pushups on top of other students, I feel belittled and small.

When the Viking mascot is emasculated year after year by a cheesehead of all things, I lose my sense of manhood. I haven't made love in 15 years, and it's all because of the Minnesota Vikings.

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm sure my ancestors must have been mistreated at some time by somebody or other, and it's about time their descendents paid up. Otherwise I am going to get very upset and shout about it a lot. Of course somebody else probably thinks much the same about me.

Seriously though, slavery was (and indeed still is) a horrible crime, and the descendents of those who benefited should at the very least apologise officially and seek to make amends to the descendents of those who suffered.

As to the question of actual compensation, I agree in principle, but I wouldn't envy whoever has the job of deciding how much, exactly what for, and to whom.

When did slavery compensation become a hot topic again? I'm against it, but I'm curious why it is being trotted out now...
