forgot that he was carrying Webbs gun. The story is NOT unusual --a similar incident happened to a police officer friend of mine. (Although if I were asked to carry someone's gun--I think I'd make sure it was NOT loaded!--but that is just me). I think the whole thing stinks.

That being said, if a democratic aide can forget about a LOADED handgun in such a short period of time........why is it NOT believable that a republican does not remember verbatim, a conversation that took place months ago?

Because he was Republican. This is all it takes. Dems are above the law or so they think.

Because he takes notes during meetings and I would expect him to check his meeting notes before testifying under oath.

Although, if the Vice President of the United States were to discuss committing high treason I might decide not to take notes. But I think I'd remember, verbatim, what he said.

The issue wasn't about whether the conversation was verbatim.

This is what burns me up about people. When you are asked to testify, if you are asked about the exact wording of a sentence you uttered four months ago, there is NOTHING wrong with saying, "I don't remember the exact wording." You cannot be prosecuted for failing to remember something. You can, however, be prosecuted for testifying under oath about something that turns out not to be accurate. And that is what happened.

Good point, and after I read why he was carrying a gun, I can understand and he makes a good point. I have nothing against Webb or Thompson for this, I find it to be an understandable and honest mistake.

Because the republican you mention blocked out a half-hour out of his "too busy to remember" schedule specifically FOR talking about Plame. It's in his schedule. NOW do you understand why he was convicted?

Webb should be investigated, he is a psychotic.
