I heard it was Rated R at first and Steven Spielburg went to the MPAA to complain he wanted a PG-13. Did he have to shave off some more scenes to make it PG-13 or did the MPAA take the original cut they saw and just decide to swap it to PG-13?

Spielberg got the PG-13 rating on appeal according to Shia Lebouf but so far the MPAA is not listing the film with an official rating nor is the Transformers web site. If you believe the article listed below there were no edits made to the film. According to the article the film originally got the R rating based on intensity, pacing and suspense so there was nothing to cut. Sounds like this is mostly a publicity ploy.

PG-13 purely cuz of the stuff around me... if it werent for men attempting to hit on me, being in a would thats exceedingly plenty the closet ingredient to hell... and the song i hear 2... then i'd be G.

What had to be clipped from an "R"?

That would mean either profanity or excessive violence and gore were in the original cut.
