It sounds like a service reminder, but Auto Zone can check for computer codes and it's free.

Usually the check engine light indicates a fault with the engine computer. You should take it to the dealer and get it checked. The discount auto parts stores like Advance, Auto Zone, and NAPA will also do it, for free. After you have had them read, then you will know what needs to be fixed.....

Does your KIA have a voltage gauge? It should be 14-15 volts while running. If not, go to an AutoZone or large aprts store. They will check your alternator and battery for free.

Could mean a lot of things. Take it to a garage to have them look it up on a handheld computer. Some auto parts store do this for free, but cannot fix the problem

If the check engine light came on, forget guessing, take it to a shop or to an auto parts store and have the computer scaned to see what code it is giving, this will tell you where your problem is.

usually it is a computer sensor that makes the check engine light come on. also if your gas cap is not on tight enough it will cause it to come on. the only way to find out for sure is to have a computer scan done at your favorite mechanic. hope this helps.

you take the car in and have a read out from the computer that all newer cars have. the read out should tell you what is going on.
Now quick and dirty disconnect the ground terminal from the battery leave it off for one half an hour put it back that should take care of the light ,now don't tell anyone i told you
you will have to reset your radio and clock.

Problem should be explained. Their may be some symptoms when it happens. I suggest you to get some OBD II scanner and check fault code.

Anything from a loose gas cap to an oxygen sensor.
Check with your owner's manual

if it was the alternator you would have another red light on for that or a low voltage reading gauge
