What do you wear to a Wicked play?

Are you supposed to dress really nice or can you wear abercrombie and jeans??

I'd say it depends mostly on where you are going to see it (i.e. on Broadway, off Broadway, or traveling company in your town.) And what time of the day you are going to see it, matinee or evening. Evening theatre attire is commonly more dressy, both on or off Broadway. That doesn't mean a floor length ball gown, (that's more an Opening Night Gala occasion). Nice dress pants, and a fancier shirt would work for an evening show. Or a nice skirt, no higher then a an inch or two above the knee and a nice top. For a matinee on or off Broadway, it's slighly more casual. Nice dark jeans (no whole, or frying) with a dressy top would look fine, heels or flats are acceptable. For an evening showing again pants would look fine witha simple cap sleeve shirt with a chic cardigan. If the show is in your home town, you can go much more casual, night time a cute skirt and top with heels, or clean nice jeans (again no holes or frays) and a nice top with flats. Are you going to a Broadway show or a road company?

It would be nice of you to dress up a little if Broadway. We're not talking tux and evening gown here (unless it is opening night), but a nice skirt/jacket will make the occasion even more special.

No matter if the other attendees look like slobs, you will feel and look great.

There are no "requirements" about what to wear. However, imagine you were going to a nice restaurant and didn't want to stick out as being tacky. Wear that. [Perhaps you are even going to a nice restaurant before the show.]

The dress code varies, it depend on what you feel like wearing some go as far as a nice cocktail dress and others wear dress up pants, blouse.

You could pretty much wear wha you like.
