As Dr. Snake stated, one can be a "loser" and a "winner" at the same time. It really depends on the way you perceive the topic.

Something that is considered mediocre may not be classified as either, so some people choose to call it both.

Someone who wins something still loses another thing in the process. For example, while making an investment, you momentarily lose some money, but you will benefit later on ("win") later on. Successful investors still have had their own failures and make their own mistakes, but they carry on with life and earn a fortune from their accomplishments.

On the topic of soccer teams, teams that win will also lose at times; no one's perfect.

So, from the way I see it, there are always people who lose and win in life.

The best losers win game was the 2005/6 Champions League final. Liverpool were down 3-0 at half time and they came back to win the cup on penalties.

Being "Employee of the Month" is a good example of how you can be a winner and a loser at the same time.

Thats kind of an oxymoron isn't it? The American Heritage dictionary defines loser as "One that fails to win" therefore, by definition, a "loser" cannot win.
