If they make the Punisher the new Captain America, there will rise a true American hero, maybe Steve Rogers, maybe someone else. And he will beat the snot out of the vigilante pretending to the hallowed name of Captain America. And he will restore honor to the title, and make people proud to be Americans once more.

Sadly, yes. And I say sadly because Capatain America personifies all the good that exists in America with freedom and such. Cap actually helped do his part in WWII in providing spirit and home energy in allowing real people to know that an imaginary hero was portrayed fighting the Japs, Nazi, and all the spies in America. Comic book readers of Captain America of today, while being older than the curve age will simply treat the book as dead.
